Meet the King of the Woods
We’re going to meet a snake today who is the king of the woods! So let’s get to it campers! We also have a fun cartoon for you!
King Snake Fun Facts:
- King snakes are carnivores. They eat venomous snakes and small mammals.
- They live in the northwest US to mid west US and in to Mexico. They live in woods, grasslands and urban areas.
- King snakes can grow up to 84″ long.
- They are listed at least concern by IUCN.
- King snakes are black with white rings. Some king snakes lose their white rings as adults.
- They are non venomous constrictors.
- King snakes are immune to the venom of the some of the snakes they eat.
- Juvenile king snakes can be brightly colored.
- They give off an offense musky odor when threatened by a predator.
- They also shake their tail in leaves to imitate the sound of a rattlesnake if threatened.
Snakes get a bad wrap and are often feared for no reason! Snakes are important parts of the food chain. Let’s give our legless reptiles some love and respect! Too bad they can’t high five- hahaha!
