December Craft

Santa Walrus Ornament!

We’re making ornaments this month for craft time and we’re so excited to be making this adorable little felt walrus ornament! Let’s get crafty!

Materials:

Red, white, cream, gray & brown felt (you only need small scraps)
Black marker
scissors
hot glue (to be used by an adult)
needle & thread

Instructions:

Print out pattern (below)

Cut pattern pieces out

Cut out felt pieces

Draw black dots on the eyes & two nostrils on brown mussel

Glue face, eyes & tusks on walrus

Glue Santa hat

Take needle & thread and pull through the hat. Tie a knot in string.

Hang your walrus!

NOVEMBER CRAFT!!

NOVEMBER CRAFT!

FINGERPRINT ART!

Get your ink pads, sketch pads and fingers (or hooves or paws) ready for this month’s craft.

We’re making fingerprint fall scenes!

Materials:

Ink pads in various colors (we found ones for $1 at Michael’s)
Markers, crayons or colored pencils
Paper

Instructions:

1) Draw out a tree (or whatever base makes you happy)

2) Cover your tree in fall colored leaf finger prints (this is the fun part)

3) Add finger prints for animals and use your markers to add faces, feathers & tails.

FISHING FOR ANTS CRAFT!!

SEPTEMBER CRAFT/ACTIVITY!!

We’re celebrating Back to School this week and we’re featuring some super smart animals, including chimpanzees! Chimps are known to take sticks and use them to fish out termites or ants for a nice protein rich snack! So we thought it would be fun to make a craft so you can pretend to be a chimpanzee! Are you ready?

Materials:

Empty clean 1 Liter soda bottle
Scissors
12 small buttons
One strip of magnet (we found ours at Michael’s)
Small dowel or chopstick
Tacky glue
Brown or green marker
Brown or green paint & brush
Exacto or craft knife (to be used by an adult)

Instructions:

1. Paint your bottle with two coats of paint. You will have wait for the first coat to dry completely before starting the second one. (The bottle is your ant mound)

2. While the paint dries color your dowel with the marker.

3.Then cut your strip of magnet in to small pieces that will fit on the back your buttons and one piece to put on the end of your dowel

4. Glue the magnet pieces to the backs of the buttons and to the end of the dowel.

5. Once the second coat of paint has dried (this make take a while), have an adult take the craft knife and cut 3 holes in the bottle.

Now you are ready to practice using your stick tool to get ants! Just drop your buttons in and start fishing for button ants!

SHARK CRAFT!!

AUGUST CRAFT

SHARK KOOZIE!!!!

We’re celebrating Shark Week at Ellie and Edmond Headquarters, so for this month’s craft we’re making a shark koozie! This shark’s bite will keep your drink cool! Chomp!! Chomp!! As usual, if you make the craft share your pictures with us on Facebook or Twitter @EllieandEdmond.

Materials:

Blue Koozie (we purchased ours at Michael’s)

Light Blue Fun Foam

Scissors

Hot glue gun

Wiggly eyes

Instructions:

1) Print patterns for teeth & fins (below)

2) Cut out two rows of teeth, two side fins, two top fins

3) Glue teeth around the opening.

4) Glue on top fin.

5) Glue on eyes.

6) Glue on side fins.

Be sure to recycle your can when you are done with your beverage!

SEA STAR BEAN BAG

SEA STAR BEAN BAG

We’re making stuffed sea star bean bags for World’s Oceans Day! We hope you like them! Share your photos of your sea stars too!

MATERIALS:

Sea Star Pattern
Scissors
Felt (any color)
Hot glue gun (used by an adult)
Flax seed or stuffing
Funnel
Sharpie
Pom poms or googly eyes

Directions:

1) Cut out pattern.

2) Cut out two sea stars on felt.

3) Hot glue the two pieces together, leaving a small opening.

4) Put the flax seed in the sea star. If you don’t have a funnel, you can easily make one with paper, by rolling it in a cone shape. If you don’t have flax seed, stuffing or small dry beans will work too.

5) Make sure you don’t overstuff it. Then glue the opening shut.

6) Glue on the eyes and draw on the mouth.

You’re done! Toss your sea star, use him as a paper weight, or just give him a hug!

MAY CRAFT!

MOTHER’S DAY CARDS!

Matertials:

Printable cards
Cardstock
Construction Paper
Crayons, Markers or Colored Pencils
Double sided tape or glue stick
Glitter/Glue-optional

Instructions:

Print out which card you like on card stock. Glue or tape to a piece of construction paper. Color you card! You can add glitter if you want to make it extra special!

Then give to mom with a BIG HUG!

EARTH DAY 2012!

EARTH DAY 2012!

Today we’re celebrating the Earth, our home and without it we would be lost! Today is a day to celebrate our precious earth and all the resources it provides us, like air, water, food and shelter! We all need to work to protect those special resources! We’ve come up with some fun activities and ideas to help you celebrate!

Take a Hike! Get out and enjoy nature, bring a camera and watch for animals 🙂!
Visit your local zoo or aquarium and join in on their activities!
Play our Backyard Bingo Game!
Make a recycled craft like this crocodile, angelfish, or milk jug bird feeder!
Start a garden in your backyard.
Recycle at home.
Switch out household cleaners for vinegar based ones!
Play one of our Earth Day Word Searches! One for kids and one for adults!
Go bird watching.
Draw your favorite animal!
Make Dirt! You need chocolate pudding, cool whip, and oreo cookies! Crush the cookies and stir in with the cool whip and pudding! Put in a cup and then top with more crushed cookies! Add gummy worms to your dirt!

APRIL CRAFT- BUNNY BOOKMARK!

APRIL CRAFT!

Materials Needed:

Cardstock (white or cream)
Crayons, markers or colored pencils
Bunny bookmark pattern
Glitter, cotton balls & glue (optional)

Directions:

Print bookmark on cardstock and cut out! Color your bunny and his carrot! You can add glitter or cotton to the tail with glue! Make it your own! As usual- please send us a picture of your final craft on our Facebook page or Tweet us @EllieandEdmond! Happy Easter everyone!

Make Your Own Ellie and Edmond Valentine Cards

We love Valentine’s Day, so we’ve made some great animal valentine cards for you to color and share with your sweetie, mom, dad, brother, sister, cat or dog!

February 2012 Craft: Valentine Cards

Materials:

Our Valentine Printables
Card Stock or thick paper
Printer
Scissors
Crayons, Markers or Colored Pencils
Optional: construction paper, glitter, glue or stickers

Directions:

Print and color the Valentine Cards. You can print a bunch of one pattern or all of them! If you don’t have time to color- go ahead and print your very own Ellie and Edmond Valentine picture, cut it out and attach it to construction paper!

This craft is for you to make as fancy as you want! Attach the pictures to construction paper after you color them, put glitter on them or attach a piece of candy to them with tape!
